Governor Nixon Announces Plan to bring Broadband to Northern Missouri

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon was at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville Wednesday, August 18th and announced a plan to create a rural broadband computer network throughout Northern Missouri.

Todays announcement was part of a broader initiative to bring rural broadband to most of Missouri. The project is expected to connect 660 thousand homes and businesses to high-speed internet to help homes, businesses, schools, law enforcement and hospitals.

The Mo Broadband Initiative teams Missouri with Blue Bird Media, United Electric Cooperative and other providers to bring the project to completion in around 36 months.
