The new-look, relocated Northwest Missouri State tennis facility is rounding into form with the fall season rapidly approaching.
"I'm excited about the courts," Bearcat head tennis coach and all-time wins leader Mark Rosewell said.
The fencing around the complex is complete, the lights are up, and the painting of the courts should be finished by Friday. Bearcat director of athletics, Dr. Andy Peterson, expects the new complex will be ready for tennis by next week.
The upgrades give Rosewell and his team something to look forward to, but they also allow Northwest to match up with the NCAA's guidlines.
"Anytime that you put new courts in, there are NCAA rules that you have to have so many feet in between the courts, and we didn't have that (at the Frank Grube Courts)," Rosewell said. "We're going to have so much more room out there, and also we're going to get a new scoreboard. Certainly more pros than cons."
Bearcat men's and women's tennis begins fall practice August 28th. The courts will also be used by the Maryville High School teams throughout the year.
The Northwest Board of Regents approved the naming of the new facility earlier this as the Mark Rosewell Tennis Center.
