Shenandoah has plans to provide more water to the city

The City of Shenandoah Iowa is moving forward on plans to access an aquifer below gorund to provide more water for the city.

The City will drill two wells into the natural aquifer located west of the city. Two more wells would come later, according to city plans.

Shenandoah has purchased land to complete the project, reporting an investment around 200 thousand dollars. Work to upgrade the city's wastewater treatment plant is ongoing.

At a council meeting this week, the city also signed a contract with an urban planning group to update its comprehensive plan, which has not been updated since 2008. A major part of the plan will address housing needs in the city.
