All eight of Missouri's metropolitan areas saw rising unemployment rates in June.
St. Joseph had the highest rate of all with four-point-five percent unemployed. That is up from 4 percent in May.
Columbia had the biggest rate increase with 4.2 percent up 7 tenths of a percent from May.
Kansas City and Springfield also recorded rates at 4.2 percent, which is also the national average.
The statewide uneployment rate for the month of June was 4.4. Last year the rate for June was 3.8 percent.
The total labor force of Missouri was 3.2 million in June. That means roughly 141,000 people were left unemployed in June.
Across the country, employment numbers from this summer have lacked luster: the US economy appears to be adding fewer jobs on the whole.
