The historic MacArthur Drive Bridge in St. Joseph is now reopened, in both lanes, as work on the project nears completion.

The bridge was originally built in 1945 and has been undergoing renovation since May 2024. The 3 million dollar project is the final piece of a voter-approved ballot major in the city.

Throughout construction, a reduction to one lane traffic has slowed drivers trying to access the city's waterfront from its downtown and from interstate 229.

The bridge provides access to the city-owned Heritage Park Softball Complex and Remington Nature Center, as well as several businesses, including the St. Joseph Casino. Work on the project is slated for a final completion by the end of August, weather permitting.
