Death in Shenandoah after severe weather

Severe thunderstorms that brought damage to Page County Iowa and the City of Shenandoah in the early hours of Sunday, August 10th have been tied to the death of Kansas City Resident Brian Seago.

According to the Shenandoah City Police Department, officers responded to calls from Sportsmans Park in the city around 4 am. Seago was found deceased at the scene. It appears he sustained injuries from a shed which toppled in high wind, crushing the tent where he was asleept.

A large group, including Seago, were camping out as part of the annual Rooster Tail Ride, a two-day biking event that takes place on the nearby Wabash Trail.

Campers were evacuated to the National Gaurd Armory to seek shelter. The storm brought seventy mile an hour winds, toppling trees, downing power lines, and leading to extensive damage.

In a release, the organizers of the Rooster Tail Ride recognized the "extremely devastating event", and said they would offer a memorial to Seago in the future.
