Notice a bit of haze in the air today?

Wildfires burning in Canada have sent smoke across North America for much of the summer and that smoke has now made it to our region. This morning, Kansas City recorded an Air Quality Index of 154 which is considered unhealthy. St Joseph reported an AQI around 140, and this morning the AQI in Maryville sat around 120.

For most, those numbers are not particularly dangerous. But any reading over 100 is considered dangerous for sensitive groups such as older adults, children, or those with respiratory diseases.
