St Louis City has the highest annual wage in the state of Missouri at nearly 80 thousand dollars a year. That's quite a bit higher than the State average, which comes in at 64 thousand; it is even higher than the US average of 75 thousand.
Here in the Northwest wages are significantly lower. Holt, Gentry, Atchison and similar surrounding counties came in around 45 thousand dollars a year. Workers in Nodaway County took home around 43 thousand. Worth County, whose seat is Grant City, recorded about 33 thousand dollars as the average worker salary.
There are wide wealth disparities between urban and rural areas.
Workers in Buchanon County, home to Saint Joseph, brought home nearly 60 thousand dollars a year before taxes.
This data, recently released from 2024, comes from the Missouri Department of Education and Workforce Development.
