The Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced they were the recipient of a $5,000 grant.

The grant comes from the Missouri Humanities Council, and it's helping support one of Chillicothe's most treasured traditions. The tradition? Chautauqua in the Park. A community festival that's been happening for 40 years.

The Missouri Humanities Council's mission is to connect their residents with the education of humanities and culture, and Chautauqua in the Park speaks to what they stand for.

In a statement, Crystal Narr, Executive Director at the Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce recognized, "we're grateful for their parnership as we mark 40 years of Chautauqua."

The festival highlights creativity and fun. At the event, visitors can expect to see handmade art and crafts, live entertainment, and food vendors

This year the event is September 6th and 7th at Simpson Park in Chillicothe. For more information about Chautauqua in the Park visit chillicothemo.com.
