Police responded to a shooting at Walmart in St. Joseph

Police responded to a shooting at the South Belt Walmart in St. Joseph Tuesday afternoon.

It was found to be an accidental discharge, and a young juvenile and adult female sustained injuries as a result.

After clearing and searching the store, police determined there was no active shooter or ongoing public threat.

The individuals involved knew each other, and there was no indication of criminal activity directed at other shoppers.

No names are being released at the this time due to the nature of the incident and involvment of a juvenile. Both individuals received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The St. Joseph Police Department's Detective Division is actively investigating this incident and will provide further updates as appropriate.
