Museum Hill streets, sidewalks to receive $1 million upgrade

Charles and Sylvanie Streets between intersections with 12th and 18th will receive new sidewalks and curbs.

Two historic streets in St Joseph are getting a $1 million update after this week's City Council Meeting.

Charles and Sylvanie Streets between intersections with 12th and 18th will receive new sidewalks and curbs, along with ADA compliant ramps and new sewer runoff systems.

A key focus of this project is to preserve the historic character of the Museum Hill Historic District. Any existing brick sidewalks within the district will be reconstructed with bricks, and the city will preserve as many existing trees as possible. The work will cost $1.1 million, sourced from the City's Capital Improvement Fund.
