Maryville City Councilmember Tye Parsons resigns

Tye Parsons

Now former Maryville City Councilmember Tye Parsons has resigned from the position, effective immedietely.

Parsons submitted a letter to Mayor Darren Merrill yesterday, July 14th, which he shared with local media outlets. He says his time is "becoming an increasingly rare resource," and the resignation will allow him to "prioritize family".

Parson has served on the council since January of 2019, and was re-elected to the position three times, including in April of this year.

He is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University where he works as a Grants Coordinator.

Parsons did not specify why his departure was announced so suddenly. The city council met last night for a regularly scheduled meeting, with Parsons in attendance.
