Following the resignation of Councilman Tye Parsons, Maryville City Council is looking to fill its vacant seat.
The council is encouraging any citizen that may be interested to submit a letter describing their background and interest in the position.
The term of this position will begin upon appointment by City Council and is set to expire April 7, 2026. An election will be held to fill the position that same day, which the appointee can file as a candidate for.
Qualifications for serving on City Council are as follows: must be at least 21-years-old, a registered voter of Nodaway County, a Maryville resident for at least one year prior to the filing date, and must not be in arrears of local taxes or other fees.
Letters of Interest will be accepted by the City Clerk until noon on Wednesday, August 6, and can be mailed to City Hall, delivered in-person, or emailed to: swood@maryvillemo.org
