Education on the architecture in St. Joseph

There are two opportunities to learn about important works of local architecture this week.

Waylande Gregory was a budding artist when he came to St Joseph, and, at only 22 years old, produced sculptures for the Missouri Theater and the City Hall. Gregory would go on to be an important figure in the country's Art Deco movement.

The two buildings bearing his sculptural work are now iconic city landmarks in St Joseph.

Local architect Max Guenther will offer a presentation this evening at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum focusing on the Missouri Theater.

Guenther will discuss the architecture of City Hall at an event this Saturday July 26th at the Library in downtown St. Joe, at 1 PM. Contact Lori McAlister at (402) 802 2099 for more information.
