Gavin reports, "Beef enthusiasts from across Nodaway County have packed the community room at the Youth Camp out on Mozingo Lake Park. The line wraps around the room, twice, then heads out the door into the evening where the air is cooling from a high of around 85. There's no fear of food scarcity, 20 teams have worked all afternoon to cook brisket, beans and beef ribs. That's this year's wild card cut in an effort to impress the judges and take the top spot. After making their way fown the wall of food, all are fed and dusk settles over Mozingo. Folks gather on the lawn to hear who the judges have chosen is winner."

"The best ribs goes to Maryville's Wiederholt family, but for everything else, the Driskells take the top honors. They win for the best beans, best brisket, and best overall. Debbie Driskell is in charge of the beans and Kenny cooks the meat. The secret they say is practice.", says McGough.

"Well, i've won several times with the beans and use the same recipe over and over again. I also do a nice presentation with my beans.", Debbie says. Kenny reflected that he uses the same recipe for 25 years.

Debbie added that it is about tradition and the ability to spend time with family and have fun.
