Feeling inspired to create this June? The Missouri Extension Office hopes so: the first two weeks of this month mark the Show Me Neighborhood Arts Program. Folks across the state are encouraged to complete a mini-public art project for their communities. Maybe paint a mural, design a flower walk, install a yard sculpture, or enlist your neighbors and throw a concert. You can register your creation on the extension office website and be included in a list of community art projects happening state-wide. Awards will be given to projects of excellence.

You can find a list of projects already on display for the Show Me Art Week, including a new mural on Main Street in Gallatin. You can also register a project of your own at https://extension.missouri.edu/events/show-me-neighborhood-art-week-2025.

Rules to follow if you participate are creating work that is visible from the street or sidewalk, using materials that are not hazardous or dangerous, no hate speech or derogatory images, and use materials that will continue through a variety of weather conditions. If you would like to experience the artwork around the state, you can check the website for a list of locations, view the art from the sidewalk or street, do not touch the art, and share any and all photos of the art on social media with #ShowMeNeighborhoodArt and #MUExtension and #EngagedNeighbor!
