Big Lake, Missouri, is holding a Spring Fling fundraiser event for their Big Lake Improvement Association on Saturday, June 7, from 11am to 6pm. The Big Lake community is currently raising funds for a new pump system, and all proceeds from the Spring Fling will support that ongoing effort.

The Big Lake Improvement Association is "committed to improving the beauty and quality of life in the local area, with its main goal being to maintain consistent lake levels, especially during times of drought." The lake's pump is the area's main resource for maintaining desired water levels. Before the community's efforts, Big Lake saw years of severe drought, which rendered the lake almost unusable. The current pumping process is significantly inefficient, which leads to wasted resources, and a new pump would streamline and improve operations.

Saturday's Spring Fling will feature a BBQ smoke-off contest, cornhole and horseshoe tourneys, bingo, an auction, and a raffle. Food service begins at noon and will include funnel cakes, popcorn, and ice cream. The event will take place at 407 Lakeshore Dr. in Big Lake.
