A beloved Piece of Albany's history is on the verge of a comeback. The Rigney Theatre has launched a 30-day campaign to raise $50,000 that will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a grant from the Patterson Family Foundation to support its restoration.
Once THE place to see movies, live shows, and community events, The Rigney has stood silent for over a decade waiting to be restored and revived.
Board Member of the Albany Community Developement Linda Place notes "the Theater holds generations of memories. We want to ensure it becomes a place where future generations can contineue to create memories."
Donations are being accepted online through the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri, as well as in cash and check. Every dollar that is donated will be matched up to $50,000, which will double the impact and bring the restoration closer to reality.
The Donations Drive runs through July 15th.
Additonally, the City holds it annual Rhythm n' Roots Festival this Saturday. You can catch live music, eat great food, and check out the Rigney Theater in Albany's downtown while you are there.
