Three guitars, two ukuleles, one recorder, one drum, a hammered dulcimer, a mandolin and a musical saw: that was the list of instruments reportedly played last Saturday in Jamesport, Missouri. Who will show up this week? You'll have to go see!
The community is holding weekly musical get-togethers on Saturday mornings all summer long. The gatherings begin around 10 am at 113 Broadway Street in the Jamesport Village Center.
Attendees are warmly invtied to bring a chair and a water bottle, and any acoustic instrument they please. Or simply come to listen.
Jamesport has long celebrated traditional music and its community bond with an annual August get-together, but enthusiasm has grown to make gatherings run all summer.
According to an email from organizers Debbie and Peter Allen, attendees should "get ready to sing, dance, shake a rattle and beat a drum!" Let's all have some fun, they say.
