June 7th is National Caring Day

June 7th is National Caring Day, and one way to celebrate the holiday is by giving back to your local food pantries. The Maryville Ministry Center is encouraging the community to get involved by donating nonperishable food items. Autumn Quimby runs the Downtown Maryville Market, which is hosting a food drive for the center this Saturday. The market started a kids' club this year, and the theme selected for this weekend was National Caring Day, which sparked the idea for the food drive. Quimby believes that teaching kids to give back is important. She also advocates for greater community engagement through supporting local organizations and causes.Nonperishable food items needed for the pantry include canned goods, cereal, saltine crackers, mac and cheese, peanut butter, jelly, and more. Food donations cannot be opened or expired. A full list of requested items is available on the Downtown Maryville Market, Maryville, MO Facebook group page. Cash donations will also be accepted.
