Severe weather which swept through the region earlier this week has largely subsided. Tornado and flood watches were in effect on Monday and Tuesday as some areas in Northwest Missouri saw as much as 4 inches of rain accumulation from a severe storm syastem. Wind gusts reached 60 to 70 miles per hour.
Melissa Kreller, Lead Metereologist with the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, says we can expect calmer conditions in the coming days with pleasant, cool temperatures. Kreller notes there may be some ISOLATED showers in the region.
"Primarily North, along the Iowa and Missouri state line but we're not expecting any hazardous weather. The next round of widespread thunderstorms comes back in on Friday and Saturday where there is the potential to have some stronger storms with that system.", says Kreller.
Spring often brings unsettled weather to the region Kreller notes.
"This is just that normal time of year where that occurs, and in terms of being weather aware and being prepared and safety.", says Kreller.
She encourages residents to moniter weather warnings on the National Weather Service website, to avoid outdoor activities during times of high risk, and to have a plan in place should weather events become severe.
