The Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents approved a 4% increase in tuition, fees, and room and board for the 2025–26 academic year during their meeting last week.
Vice President of Finance and Administration Stacy Carrick presented the proposal during an open session. The university says the increase aims to balance affordability with maintaining academic quality and student services.
Northwest points to its strong record on affordability—95% of first-time, full-time students receive financial aid. It’s also ranked the most efficient public university in Missouri, according to the state’s Department of Higher Education.
Undergraduate Missouri residents taking 30 credit hours will see an annual increase of $336 before financial aid, with an average net increase of $225. Non-residents face a $672 bump, with an estimated $450 increase after aid. Room and board will rise between $396 and $564 annually, depending on housing and meal plans.
The plan also includes updates to course and supplemental fees, supporting hands-on learning and academic support services. University officials cited inflation and rising costs for utilities and benefits as key reasons for the adjustment.
