The Cameron Public Library is nearing the finish line on renovations

The Cameron Public Library is nearing the finish line on renovations to its children’s area—and now it’s asking the community for one last boost.

With updated spaces designed for preschool through intermediate-age kids, the library is aiming to raise $15,000 by May 31 to purchase new children’s furniture. So far, $10,000 has been raised through the efforts of the Friends of the Cameron Public Library, leaving just $15,000 to go.

The campaign is part of a broader effort to enhance the library as a space for discovery, creativity, and community connection. Recent upgrades have included accessible sidewalks, a new entryway, and sensory-friendly equipment for young children.

Library Director JoEllen Pratt says community support has been vital since the library’s founding in 1976, and that spirit of generosity is needed again to finish the project.

Donations can be made by cash, check, or through the Friends of the Library’s nonprofit PayPal account.

The library will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026.
