State Representative Peggy McGaugh speaks on accomplishments from the state capital

Following the end of the Missouri State legislative session earlier this month, KXCV News has been speaking with the region's representatives about accomplishments from the state capital.

Peggy McGaugh is the State Representative for District 7, which encompasses Chillicothe and parts of central Missouri. In a message, McGaugh thanked constituents for their input throughout the session. She said "Hearing your views made a difference when it came time for me to vote."

McGaugh named reforms to local government operations, county offices, and financial record keeping as important accomplishments from the session. She also called out a large school bill. The Strengthening School Safety, Health, and Accountability Act requires schools to update their drinking weater fixtures, plan for emergency situations, and track student advancement with testing. It also bans cell phone use in schools, and encourages STEM education.
The legislature passed a balanced budget for the year. The House adjourned on May 15th.
