Senator Rusty Black of Chillicothe reflects on accomplishments from the state capital

Following the end of the Missouri State legislative session earlier this month, KXCV News has been speaking with the region's representatives about accomplishments from the state capital.

Rusty Black of Chillicothe is the Senator for the entire northweast corner of the state, a region which includes 19 counties. He reflects on the area he represents.

Black had a long career as an educator before joining the Senate in 2022. School issues remain a priority for Black. This session he worked to pass a bill which allows Chaplains in public schools. There are, he says:

Overall, Black said it was a productive session. But, he adds it is still likely the Governor will call lawmakers back to Jefferson City this summer to look at a bill funding new stadiums aimed at keeping the Royals and the Chiefs based in the state. He adds:

Senator Black plans to be in Maryville on June 3rd for a meeting with the local Chamber of Commerce. The event is open to the public.
