Nebraska is facing concerns over air quality
Nebraska is facing growing concerns over air quality as incentives for cleaner-burning vehicles come under threat. A new report shows that 93 of the state’s counties are failing to meet federal clean air standards.
Assistant Vice President for Nationwide Healthy Air at the American Lung Association, Laura Kate Bender says poor air quality takes a serious toll on vulnerable residents.
Bender also notes people who work or exercise outdoors face greater exposure on high-pollution days.
At the federal level, lawmakers are considering using the Congressional Review Act to undo recent Environmental Protection Agency efforts that support cleaner fuel vehicles. One rollback measure—House Joint Resolution 87—has passed the U.S. House and is awaiting action in the Senate.
