"Conservation Families: Outdoor Hazards" is offered by the Missouri Department of Conservation

Don’t let worries about poison ivy or venomous snakes keep you inside this spring. The Missouri Department of Conservation is offering a free virtual program to help you stay safe and confident outdoors.

The event, called “Conservation Families: Outdoor Hazards,” takes place Friday, May 16, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Hosted by the Springfield Conservation Nature Center, the session will be led by MDC Naturalist Jordi Raos, who will cover how to identify and avoid common outdoor threats like ticks, poison ivy, venomous snakes, and other pests that can turn a pleasant hike into an itchy memory.

While the program is free, registration is required. You can sign up and get more details at mdc.mo.gov/events. Once registered, participants will receive a link to join and will have the chance to ask questions during a live chat-based Q&A.

For more information, or to sign up for alerts about future programs, call the Springfield Conservation Nature Center at 417-888-4237.

Across Missouri, the Department of Conservation offers both virtual and in-person programs. A full list is available online at mdc.mo.gov/events.
