Chillicothe Police Department has been named a Missouri Blue Shield community

Governor Mike Kehoe has honored the Chillicothe Police Department by naming the municipality a Missouri Blue Shield community. The designation was created by the govenror earleir this year to recognize communities which have prioritized public safety, and the law enforcement agencies which are doing the work on the ground. Governor Kehoe has described safetry and security as the "foundations of a thriving community and state.". Municipalities that earn the designation also recevie a grant from the state for further staff training and equipment needs.

In a statement, Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples said the department is pleased to receive the designation. He said "It is the partnerships we have within the community [that have allowed us] to obtain Blue Shield Status."

"I want to thank the community for helping us obtain this," he said.
