2025 turkey season may be the largest harvest since 2006

Preliminary numbers from the Missouri Department of Conservation show an 8 percent increase in the number of turkeys harvested during the spring, 2025 turkey season, April 21 thru May 11 and the spring youth weekend, April 12 and 13. 46,562 birds were checked during the regular spring turkey season with a near-record 4,449 turkeys over the spring youth weekend.

MDC Wild Turkey Biologist Nick Oakley says this year's harvest is the largest since 2006. He adds continuing to prioritize turkey nesting and brooding habitat is the best way to ensure good hatches in the futures, and ongoing success in the field.
