The Missouri Department of Conservation hosts free tree giveaway in celebration of Arbor Day

The Missouri Department of Conservation is hosting a free tree giveaway in celebration of Arbor Day on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Northwest Regional Office in St. Joseph, located on the Missouri Western State University campus.

Each family or group can receive up to two tree seedlings, while supplies last. Available species include Missouri natives like swamp white oak, serviceberry, redbud, pawpaw, and more.

The event also features guided trail hikes led by the Loess Hills chapter of Missouri Master Naturalists, weather permitting. Visitors are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes. Kids can meet Smokey Bear, and the St. Joseph Woodworking Guild will be on site with demos.

No registration is required, and all ages are welcome. For more info, contact MDC Forester Timothy Wolfe at 816-271-3100.
