Results from Buchanan County Election

Election results from Buchanan County last night saw the St. Joseph School District's Prop 2 bond measure go down to defeat by about 800 votes. More than 53% of voters opposed the proposal to build a new high school south of U.S. Highway 36. The measure required a 57% majority to pass.

Jennifer Kerns and Kim Miller won seats on the St. Joseph School District Board of Education, according to unofficial election results.

Kerns, who narrowly missed a seat last year by just 28 votes, has now secured her place on the board. Incumbent Kim Miller has successfully retained her seat.

Both Kerns and Miller defeated a field of four other candidates, including Ken Reeder, who was seeking a return to the board, and first-time candidates Brian Kirk, Cassandra Veale, and James Mrkvicka.

The Buchanan County R-Four school district's Proposition KIDS ballot issue passed receiving over 80 percent of the vote.
