In Clarinda, at their recent City Council meeting, the Council unanimously approved a series of 2025 Clarinda Chamber of Commerce events, including the Cruzin’ Clarinda car show, Southwest Iowa Band Jamboree, Craft Carnival, and the Kiwanis Lighted Christmas Parade, all involving temporary street closures.
Approval was also given for a street dance hosted by Inda Clar on August 2, closing part of West Washington Street for family activities and an adults-only event later in the evening.
Business owner Dennis Boger raised concerns about bicycles on downtown sidewalks. While no action was taken, the Clarinda Police Department will begin education efforts, and future enforcement or signage may be considered.
The council also passed Ordinance 912, officially amending sewer service charges in the city.
