The Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam targeting northwest Missouri residents. Scammers are calling individuals claiming they missed a required court date and unless they pay a fee immediately, a warrant will be issued for their arrest.
Officials stress this is a scam. They say Law Enforcement will never call to demand payment over the phone or request money in the form of gift cards.
If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately. If you’re concerned about a possible warrant, you can visit the Nodaway sheriff’s office and they will help you check your status and resolve any legitimate issues.
