Missouri lawmakers have moved one step closer to cutting the state's capital gains taxes. Last week, House Bills 594 and 508 were returned to the floor of the Missouri Senate with new language. During discussion, an amendment was offered which got the attention of Senator Brian Williams of University City.
"I wanted to touch bases with you. The amendment that you're offering will have an impact on my district and I haven't had a chance to work through that, it kind of caught me off guard a little bit. I was hoping that you would consider pulling back that amendment and giving us an opportunity to talk aout that.", says Williams
The amendment, sponsored by Senator Mike Moon of Ash Grove was defeated. The bills now go to a Missouri Senate committee before the final senate vote. They would then return to the Missouri House of Representatives either for final passage or to a Missouri Senate/House conference committee before final consideration.
