April 7, 2025EDMOND, Ok.
University of Central Oklahoma head football coach Adam Dorrel was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving Thursday evening.
Edmond police received calls of an erratic driver. Once pulled over, police reports say Dorrel was slurring his words and admitted to drinking.
"We are evaluating options to hold Coach Dorrel accountable in this situation," the University of Central Oklahoma said in a statement. "His actions are not consistent with the standards and expectations we have for members of the Broncho community. He has expressed regret and is taking responsibility for his actions, and we are assisting him with getting the help he needs. For the time being, Associate Head Coach James Curlee will lead the football program."
Dorrel led the Bronchos to their first MIAA title last fall. He signed a contract extension with UCO on December 5, 2024.
