MARYVILLE, Mo. - Authorities are investigating a fatal house fire in Maryville that claimed the life of a local resident.
Fire crews responded to a call at 1405 Chick Avenue around 3:50 a.m. Monday after a passerby reported flames coming from the home.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames pouring from both the front and back of the structure. Maryville Police spoke with a resident, Meredith Ross, who confirmed that her husband was trapped inside a bedroom.
Firefighters quickly entered through a window, located Scott Ross, and removed him from the home. Paramedics provided immediate treatment before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Anyone with information or security footage is asked to contact Maryville Fire Chief Jace Pine. Multiple local agencies assisted at the scene.
