MAYSVILLE, Mo. - The DeKalb County Historical Society is offering a hands-on workshop to teach proper cleaning and restoration techniques for cemetery headstones.
The workshop is set for Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fairport Cemetery in Fairport, Missouri.
Participants will learn how to safely clean weathered and neglected headstones using conservation-grade materials and best practices. The event is led by preservation specialist Ashley Putnam.
The cost is $10 per person and includes lunch. Pre-registration is required by March 17 and can be completed at the DeKalb County Historical Society Museum in Maysville or online at missouridchs.com.
Attendees are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and gloves and bring a lawn chair. The workshop is sponsored by the DeKalb County Historical Society with partial funding from the Missouri Humanities Council.
