ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Special Olympics is putting on an icy event. The 19th Annual St. Joseph Polar Plunge is happening on Saturday, February 24 at 1 p.m.

This year, brave souls will plunge into the icy waters at East Hills Shopping Center, all in support of Special Olympics Missouri athletes.

Hosted by Maryville Treatment Center and St. Joseph Police Department, the event kicks off with day-of registration at 11 a.m., followed by the plunge at 1 p.m. Last year, plungers raised over $30,000 for athletes.

This year’s goal is $35,000, aiming to break the million-dollar mark across the state with more than 10 events.

Costumes are encouraged, with awards for top fundraisers and creative costumes. No wet suits allowed, but shoes are a must. For more information, call 816-233-6232.
