MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Maryville Public Library is hoping people with a green thumb show up to this month's adult program.

Tim Janousek, owner of the Plant House in Maryville, will be the guest speaker at "How to Start a Vegetable Garden" on Thursday, May 18 at 7 p.m. in the library's basement.

It all started when Tim's grandfather planted a large vegetable garden for his family during the Great Depression. Tim's grandfather taught Tim's father everything he knew, and Tim's father passed that knowledge to Tim.

Refreshments will be provided, as well as everything needed to plant a container vegetable to bring home.

Registration is open for five dollars at the library front desk. Spots will be limited. To learn more, email adultprograms@maryvillepubliclibrary.org.
