HAMILTON, Mo. - Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 36, two miles west of Hamilton.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 2:05 p.m. Monday when a 2000 Ford Expedition driven by Michael Schieber, 71, of Hamilton, was entering the highway from the crossover and failed to yield to a 2018 Hyundai Sonata driven by Phillip L. Payne, 66, of Champaign, Illinois.

The front of the Expedition struck the driver's side of the Sonata, and the passenger side of the Sonata hit a semi.

Both Schieber and Payne, who were both wearing their seatbelts, were seriously injured in the crash and transported to Cameron Regional Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the semi wasn't harmed.
