Iowa DNR reminds you to avoid baby animals

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources would like to remind you that, even though they look cute and defenseless, leave wildlife babies where they are.

While these animals may appear abandoned, they are not. Quite often, the mother is waiting out of sight, watching the interaction and waiting. You should never touch wildlife youth, even if they are injured.

The Iowa DNR suggests calling the closest wildlife rehabilitation center. The only exception is if the wildlife is in immediate danger.
