Fairfax woman charged in connection with shooting

FARIFAX, Mo. - An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting in Fairfax.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 39-year-old Kristi Duerin, of Fairfax, has been charged with first-degree domestic assault after 41-year-old Dee Duering was shot last Friday night.

The Patrol adds that Dee Duering is now in the hospital in critical condition. Kristi Duering was a teacher in the Fairfax R-3 School District, according to the Superintendent who released a statement.

Fairfax Superintendent Jeremy Burright "Events that occurred on the night of May 5, 2023, were never anticipated and are incredibly shocking."

Troop H Division of Drug and Crime Control is investigating the shooting. No other information has been released about the shooting.
