DeKalb County Sheriff warns of fake sheriff's deputy

police lights

MAYSVILLE, Mo. - Some DeKalb County residents are getting pulled over, but not by the sheriff's office.

In a Facebook post, Dekalb County Sheriff Kasey Keesaman says they've received two reports of a man impersonating a sheriff's deputy who pulled them over.

The first incident happened around 8:30 a.m. last Thursday on State Route A near Fairport.

The resident says the fake deputy was driving an unmarked gray or silver newer model GMC Denali S-U-V with emergency lights on the inside dash. The second incident happened in the same area the following morning.

The people who were pulled over say the fake deputy would pull them over for driving too slowly then would ask them a few questions before getting back in their vehicle and driving off.

No one was harmed, but the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact the office at 816-449-5802.
