Officials to renovate Pioneer Park Pond

SHENANDOAH, Iowa - One Iowa pond will be getting a renovation.

The Page County Conservation Board and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources are teaming up to renovate the remaining fishery in Pioneer Park Pond this fall.

The DNR will treat the pond with several chemicals to eliminate the remaining fish population. The pond has suffered numerous fish kills over the summer due to its shallow depth and algae blooms.

The DNR will also dredge the pond to improve the overall water quality and sportfish quality. No word yet on when the renovation will wrap-up.
