MDC has reminder about deer carcasses

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation is reminding hunters about the proper way to dispose of a deer carcass. The first and best way is to place deer parts in the trash or a landfill.

You can also bury deer parts on site or leave on site if the landowner is OK with it. Besides the illegalities involved with the improper disposal of a deer carcass or its parts, dumping deer parts on the landscape is a way to spread chronic wasting disease.

To report illegal dumping of a deer carcass, and other wildlife-related violations, contact a local conservation agent or call the Operation Game Thief Hotline at 1-800-392-1111. For more info, visit mdc.mo.gov
