DES MOINES, Iowa - There's an organization that wants your deer hides. The Elks Lodges across the KXCV/KRNW listening area are asking hunters to donate the hides of the deer that they harvest throughout the hunting season.

The deer hides are used by the Veterans Leather Program to make professionally-crafted leather gloves for veterans in wheel chairs as well as leather used in therapy programs for recovering veterans.

Lisa Widick, spokesperson for the Iowa Elks Lodge, adds that the leather used in the therapy programs will be used to make things such as gloves, gun cases, notebook covers, and coin purses.
