LENEXA, Kan. - One truck stop chain in our listening area will have to pay a hefty penalty after several federal violations.

According to a press release from the EPA, Pilot Travel Centers has agreed to pay over $121,000 in civil penalty to resolve alleged violations of the federal Clean Water Act at 17 facilities in Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri.

The EPA claims those 17 facilities discharged pollutants exceeding prescribed permit limits into streams. As part of the settlement, Pilot also agreed to conduct compliance audits at 20 of its other facilities in those same three states.
