Nebraska City City Council approves land purchase

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. - One Nebraska town has decided to roll up their worksleeves, using the old saying, "if you want it done right you've gotta do it yourself."

The Nebraska City City Council recently approved the purchase of a parcel of land, which its original owner had abandoned.

Rather than tracking down the original owners of the land to fix it, the council bought the land during the Sheriff's tax sale for about $750.

City Administrator Louis Leone explained that due to it being unkept, brush, grass, and trees have grown wild in the area, causing problems for a storm drain in the land purchased.

Leone also said if someone came to the board with a good enough plan for the land, they would entertain the idea with the board, however he explained that they must understand the state of the land before purchasing.
