OREGON, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified a teenager that drowned in the Missouri River in Holt County over the weekend.

The Patrol says 18-year-old Alexander Harris, of Forest City, was attempting to assist another swimmer about a half mile north of Payne’s Landing.

Harris, after providing assistance, got caught up in the river's current around 2 p.m. Saturday and never resurfaced. Harris' body was later found Sunday morning.
