WASHINGTON - It's the top consumer fraud in the United States and one state in our listening area may be ground zero for it.
According to the financial website, WalletHub, Kansas has the third most identity theft and fraud in the U.S. As for other states in our listening area, Missouri ranked 38th on the list, Nebraska ranked 40th and Iowa was ranked last.
WalletHub looked at several metrics, including the number of identity fraud and theft complaints, and the amount lost due to fraud and theft. The state with the most identity theft and fraud was Washington state.
